PTI seeks NA debate on recent acts of terrorism

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has submitted an adjournment motion seeking discussion in the National Assembly on recent acts of terrorism and the arrest of an official of India’s intelligence agency, RAW. “We wish to submit an adjournment motion under Rule 109 of Rules of Business on a matter of grave national concern affecting the security of the people of Pakistan,” read the motion to be taken up during the next sitting of the house. The government has convened the National Assembly session from April 7. According to the motion, “the terrorist attack on Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park in Lahore last Sunday and the entry into Islamabad’s Red Zone by stick- and baton-wielding protesters from Rawalpindi has exposed the complete failure of the police and intelligence set-ups resulting in a grave threat to the life and property of citizens and property of the state. “This complete failure of the government and law-enforcement agencies had raised serious questions which must be taken up by the National Assembly, especially in the wake of the National Action Plan. The arrest of an India RAW operative in Balochistan has also raised serious security issues.” The PPP had also submitted an adjournment motion seeking discussion on the issue in the National Assembly. The MQM sought a debate in the Senate on the same issue. The PPP lawmakers, through another motion, have sought discussion on the Prime Minister’s order to the ministry of finance to give Rs1 billion each to PML-N MNAs for development in their constituencies.
